Scripture Union supports young Christians within their high school and college environments. It does that in a number of ways.
In conjunction with local volunteers, SU arranges a leadership team of young adults that are able to run regular youth groups during school lunch breaks. SUIS groups take different forms in each location but always involve offering friendship, support and an attractive presentation of the Christian message.
SUIS groups come under the oversight of SU and its legal indemnity insurance.
SU links churches and especially youth ministries with local high schools and colleges. Where the school is supportive, SU can set up and resource groups operating in the school linking them with interested students and staff.
Many local schools now have chaplaincies. Chaplains have wide varieties of tasks. Some Chaplains are strongly involved in student Christian groups, others have a less direct role but do participate where they can. SU liaises between Chaplains and local Christian groups to help build great groups within schools.
SU conducts a range of Camps and other community outreaches for teenagers. For more information see Scripture Union’s Primary and Secondary Camping Program elsewhere on this site.
